2025 Member-at-Large Board Election Toolkit
Introduction & Instructions for Use
Thank you for helping to promote the CalPERS Board of Administration Member-at-Large election. CalPERS members have a stake in who will represent them for the next four years. We need your help to engage their participation.
What We’re Asking
We’re asking stakeholder organizations to help members understand why their vote matters and to participate in the voting process. This election toolkit provides communication tools you can quickly and conveniently share with employees, members, and constituents.
Toolkit Contents
The toolkit includes three visual elements and links to our social media feeds so you can easily share with your followers. The theme — I voted. Did you? — is designed to be a conversation starter.
You can download the entire Member-at-Large Board Election Toolkit (ZIP, 0.3 MB) or view the individual elements below. The graphics are locked, but you can edit the newsletter article to suit your needs.
The poster represents the key theme of our efforts to encourage members to vote quickly and easily using the QR code in the lower lefthand corner. You can download 2025 Board Election Poster (PDF) to print and post on your organization’s bulletin board(s), share by email, or feature at upcoming meetings.
Share CalPERS' Board Election updates on CalPERS Facebook, CalPERS X, Instagram, and LinkedIn with your followers.

Did you know that CalPERS Board members make important decisions about your benefits?
This year, there are six candidates running for two Member-at-Large positions that represent all CalPERS members. Eligible voting members will be able to choose two candidates to represent their interests for the next four years.
Key Dates and Details
- The election runs August 29 through September 29.
- Candidate Forum details
- Date: September 3, 2025
- Time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Location: CalPERS Headquarters, 400 Q Street Sacramento, CA 95811

- There are three ways to vote: by mail, by phone, and online. Only one vote per eligible member is allowed.
- All votes must be received by September 29.
Your ballot package will arrive in your mailbox in early September in a blue envelope. You can think of it as your personal invitation to exercise your right to vote. It provides all the instructions you need to learn about the candidates and how to vote.
Inside the blue envelope you will find three items:
- Candidate Statements - These provide information about the candidates and their priorities, written by the candidates themselves.
- Your ballot - This provides instructions on how to vote, including a detachable paper ballot and unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) that you’ll need if you are voting online or by phone. The how-to-vote information is especially important if you haven’t tried the online and phone voting options before. These options allow you to cast your vote in seconds from anywhere.
- A return envelope - If you are voting by mail, use the detachable paper ballot in your blue envelope, place your completed ballot in the postage-paid return envelope, sign the perjury statement on the back of the return envelope, and drop it in the U.S. mail. All ballots must be signed and received by September 29 to be counted.
Don’t know who to vote for? Get to know more about the candidates and their positions on the issues. A Candidate Forum is scheduled on Wednesday, September 3, starting at 1:00 p.m. on the CalPERS campus and online.
