Returning to Work
Returning to work impacts certain benefits and coverage. Learn more about what actions you should take.
If you took a Leave of Absence, you had authorization from your employer to be absent from some or all of your duties (leave types include maternity or paternity, temporary disability, sabbatical, etc.). You may be able to purchase service credit for this time. To learn more, review your service credit Purchase Options.
Be sure to review your beneficiary designation. If you need to make changes, log in to your my|CalPERS account to make changes online or review Changing Your Beneficiary or Monthly Benefit After Retirement (PUB 98) (PDF) and submit the appropriate form(s) found in the publication.
