Votes for CalPERS Board Election Will Be Counted on Thursday, October 2

Sacramento, Calif. – All voted ballots for Member-at-Large seats on the CalPERS Board of Administration will be tabulated on October 2, 2025.
CalPERS welcomes the public to observe the tabulation of the ballots at 9:00 a.m., in Sacramento, California at the Embassy Suites, John Sutter Boardroom, 100 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA, 95814.
The election is for two Member-at-Large seats on the CalPERS Board of Administration.
The nominees for Position A are incumbent David Miller and challengers Steve Mermell and Dominick Bei. Position B nominees are incumbent Jose Luis Pacheco and challengers Sam Hasan Akkad and Troy Johnson. CalPERS expects to announce the winners later the same day.
Election results are considered unofficial until formally certified by the California Secretary of State, an action expected to occur around November.
The 13-member CalPERS Board of Administration sets policy for retirement and health benefits on behalf of California public employers, and their active and retired employees. The board also oversees asset allocation of the pension fund's investments. Under the California Constitution, the CalPERS Board has exclusive authority to administer the CalPERS Fund.
