Anton Orlich

Private Equity
Anton Orlich was named managing investment director for Private Equity in October 2022. Private Equity includes Buyout, Growth, Opportunistic, and Venture investments.
His responsibilities include overseeing the asset class’s strategies, programs, and policies, and 40-person team. Additionally, Anton sits on the Total Fund Management Committee, Investment Underwriting Committee, and Operations & Administration Committee, which together manage the CalPERS Total Fund.
Prior to rejoining CalPERS in 2022, Anton was the head of alternative investments (executive director) at Kaiser Permanente, the head of private equity (managing director) at a family office, a portfolio manager in Private Equity at CalPERS, the head of equities (lead portfolio manager) for the Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS), a vice president at Neuberger Berman, and a consultant at McKinsey & Co.
Anton holds a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in economics from Columbia College in New York and a PhD in political science from Yale University. He is also a Harry S. Truman Scholar, a Yale Prize Teaching Fellow, a Kauffman Fellow, and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Charter holder. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) and on the National Advisory Board for Girls with Impact (GWI). Anton is a U.S. Navy veteran and served in Afghanistan.
