SACRAMENTO, CA - Three members of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) Information Technology Services Branch (ITSB) have been honored with the California Public Sector CIO Academy IT Leadership Award.

The award recognizes state government IT professionals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, customer service, and public stewardship through leadership of a team, serving the organization and constituents, and implementing innovative solutions.

Those honored with the IT Leadership Award were:

  • Vikram Katyal, chief solution architect, Application Services Management
  • Mark Marshall, middle tier engineering and operations manager, Data Center
  • Dorothy Shimabukuro, enterprise test office manager, Enterprise Test Office

"This recognition by the CIO Academy is a testament to CalPERS' culture of excellence, commitment to service, and technology innovation," said Doug Hoffner, deputy executive officer for Operations and Technology. "We are proud of our honorees who exemplify leadership, service, and stewardship in their service to our members."

The California Public Sector CIO Academy is an annual, invitation-only event for California's senior level technology executives. The March 1-2 event addressed important policy, management, and leadership issues surrounding the future of digital government and the role of the public-sector CIO.
