SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) Board of Administration selected this week the joint venture of Avenue Solutions/Jennings Policy Strategies as its federal representative for the areas of health, long-term care policy, and health care delivery issues before the Executive Branch and U.S. Congress.

"Having a specialized representative will enable us to play a stronger role in health-related national policy development that will continue to enhance the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of our programs," said Board President Rob Feckner." We look forward to the skills and expertise that Avenue Solutions/Jennings Policy Strategies will bring to the table."

The CalPERS Board directed staff to begin the search for specialized representatives in the areas of health care, public pensions, and investments. A total of four firms responded to the request for proposals for the health care representative. A review process resulted in two finalists, and Avenue Solutions/Jennings Policy Strategies was selected by the Board following interviews this week. The selection is contingent upon satisfactory negotiations of terms and conditions in order for the contract to be awarded.

Avenue Solutions is a legislative and regulatory strategist firm for companies and organizations, while Jennings Policy Strategies focuses on health care policy advocacy. Both firms are based in Washington, D.C.

CalPERS is the largest public pension fund in the U.S., with more than $297 billion in assets.
