Election will determine state and public agency representatives in 2015

SACRAMENTO, CA - The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) will open the Board of Administration election for the state and public agency member representative positions on August 29, 2014. The new term of office for both positions will begin on January 16, 2015, and run through January 15, 2019.

To inform voters, CalPERS will also host a Candidate Forum to provide candidates the opportunity to deliver remarks and answer questions from the audience. The forum will be sponsored and moderated by the League of Women Voters of Sacramento County on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at CalPERS Headquarters Auditorium located at 400 P Street, Sacramento, CA 95811. A live webcast of the event will be available for those who are unable to attend in person and a copy of the webcast will be archived online afterwards.

The candidates for the state member position are:

  • David Miller
  • Iqbal S. Badwalz
  • Theresa L. Taylor

The candidates for the public agency member position are:

  • Leyne Milstein
  • Priya Sara Mathur (incumbent)

Ballots mailed to eligible, active state and public agency CalPERS members must be received by September 29, 2014, to be counted. In the event that no candidate receives a majority of votes (50 percent of votes cast plus one), a runoff election will be held between the top two candidates beginning November 7, 2014. Final results of the runoff election will be determined beginning December 8, 2014.
