Investment Compliance & Operational Risk
Katherine Crocker is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the compliance and operational risk functions within the CalPERS Investment Office.
Prior to joining CalPERS in July 2015, Katherine was chief legal officer in charge of legal and compliance functions for a mutual insurance company based in San Francisco. Prior to that, she was general counsel of Allianz of America. There she served as North American regional compliance director for Allianz SE, a publicly traded, multinational financial services company.
Katherine began her career as a lawyer in private practice. She then served as a real estate lawyer and partner at Pettit & Martin, specializing in mixed debt equity financing via limited partnerships and similar investment vehicles.
Katherine received her Bachelor of Arts degree in comparative literature from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her law degree from the UC Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, where she graduated Order of the Coif.
