Enhance Election to Receive CalPERS Credit for CalSTRS Covered Position

When employers select the following appointment criteria for employees electing CalPERS credit for CalSTRS covered positions,

  • Part Time - Daily paid, Hourly paid, or Monthly paid
  • Full Time - Daily paid or Hourly paid

these new mandatory fields display:

  • CalSTRS Membership Date
  • Position Contract FTE Percent (full time equivalency)
  • Community College District Permanent Position indicator

Note:These types of positions typically do not mandatorily qualify for CalSTRS membership on the date of hire.

When a Retirement System Election (ES 372) is completed, a determination letter is sent to the participant and employer outlining the reason as determined by CalPERS.
