2014 Primary Election
May 15

Nomination Petition, Nomination Acceptance/Ballot Designation and Candidate Statement form (handwritten or electronically) must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. at the CalPERS Board Election Office.

Jun 5 Public random drawing for the order of candidate names on the ballot.
Aug 29 Ballots mailed directly to eligible active and retired members. Voting period begins.
Sep 12 Eligible active member not receiving a ballot should contact the CalPERS Board Election office at (800) 794-2297 or (916) 795-3952.
Sep 29 Voting period ends. Voted ballots must be received by CalPERS at the address shown on the front of the return envelope by this date to be counted. The reverse side of the envelope must be signed by the voter or the ballot will not be counted.

Beginning the morning of September 29 the sealed, signed envelopes containing the voted ballots will be opened and the ballots will be removed and tabulated. The candidate receiving a majority of votes, 50 percent of the votes cast plus one vote, in the election will be certified by the Secretary of State as having been elected. In the event there is no majority winner in the election, a runoff election will be conducted between the two candidates who received the highest number of votes in the election.
Runoff Election
Oct 3 Public random drawing of the order of candidate names on the runoff ballot.
Nov 7 Runoff ballots are mailed directly to eligible active members. Runoff voting period begins.
Nov 21 Eligible active members not receiving a runoff ballot should contact the CalPERS Board Election office at (800) 794-2297 or (916) 795-3952.
Dec 8 Runoff voting period ends. Voted runoff ballots must be received by CalPERS at the address shown on the front of the return envelope by this date to be counted. The reverse side of the envelope must be signed by the voter or the ballot will not be counted.

The candidate receiving a majority of votes, 50 percent of votes cast plus one vote, will be certified by the Secretary of State as having been elected.
